At least PBS didn't hyper-exaggerate a price-related statistic, turning it into a sure sign of the "End of the World as We Know It." PBS simply omitted the facts that will give you a more descriptive understanding of today's state of pricing, as well as giving you a relief from stress.
Now CBS, on the other hand, used one June 2025 stat and made it sound as if no one is going to have any clothes to wear next year without remortgaging a home or two. Of course, also in June was the media claiming that Donald Trump finally went out and started WWIII. No, he actually prevented WWIII from starting in the Middle East. If WWIII is going to start this year, it will start in Eastern Europe.
Liars hide from statistics and from those whom they defame
To start, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that, in June of 2025, the CPI-U ... also known as the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers ... rose 0.3%. This is the Inflation Rate.
At this point, keep in mind that, throughout June 2025, the rate of Real Wage Growth grew by 0.3%. This is a good thing that CBS and others should be reporting. That Wage Rate growth of 0.3% compensates for the June inflation rate rise of 0.3%.
Concerning the "year-over-year" inflation rate ... (of the inflation rate for the past 12 consecutive months) ... it sat at 2.7% at the end of June 2025. Now, June 2024 to January 20th, 2025 were Biden's months. February 2025 to the end of June 2025 were Trump's months. So, you can neither condemn nor praise Trump for the June 2025 year-over-year inflation rate.
CBS doesn't quit its pea and shell games
Now, CBS had a very deceptive report which included the correct June 2025 inflation rate for "Apparel." It was a 0.4% rise for the average price of clothing. It sounded bad the way in which it was reported.
HOWEVER, in February of 2025, the average cost of "apparel" rose by 0.6%. Then, in March of 2025, the average cost of apparel rose an additional 0.4%. So, why didn't CBS reporters run out into the streets, screaming that the great economic calamity was now upon us, in February & March?
The 2025 "apparel price" stats are not doom and gloom. For example, in May of 2025 the average cost of clothing DECREASED by 0.4%. In April of 2025, it DECREASED by 0.2%. And in February of 2025, the average price for clothing in America DECREASED by 1.4%. Therefore, in the year-over-year inflation rate, the price of clothing between June 2024 and June 2025 DECREASED by 0.5%.
No End of the World here, folks. CBS has to go back to the proverbial drawing board and find another way to deceive you into thinking that Donald Trump is so unhinged that he is ushering in the End of the World. But, in all honesty, what the World could use is . . . the End of CBS ... and CNN ... and MSNB ... as well as ABC.
Being that the Mainstream Media is trying to make the June inflation rate look like it's ushering-in the End of the World, let's review the year-over-year inflation rates under Biden.
We can start with June 2024. It was 3.0%. That was higher than Donald's y-o-y rate of this past June. In June of 2023, the y-o-y inflation rate for Biden was also 3.0%, and that isn't bad, at all. HOWEVER, in June of 2022, the y-o-y inflation rate reached 9.1%. It was the highest inflation rate, since 1981.
Also under Biden ... beginning with his second year in office ... the y-o-y inflation rate ranged from 2.4% to 3.0% to 3.5% to 4.2% to 4.9% to 7.5% to 7.9% to 8.3% to 8.5% to 8.6% to 9.1% ... and other percentage numbers in between.
In contrast, concerning Donald Trump's first term of 48 months ... from January 2017 to December 2020 ... the y-o-y inflation rate ranged from 0.1% to 0.3% to 0.6% to 1.5% to 1.8% to 2.0% to 2.2% to 2.6% and to 2.9% ... and other percentage numbers in between.
Moreover, the years of prolonged double-digit inflation in America included 1981, 1980, 1979 ... 1975, 1974 ... 1947, 1942, 1932 ... 1920, 1919, 1918, and 1917. The worst year was 1920.
Plus, the lowest inflation years ... which included a few years of Deflation ... were: 1914, 1915 ... 1921, 1922 ... 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930, 1931, 1932, 1933 ... 1936, 1939, 1940 ... 1955, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964 ... 1980, 1981 ... 1998, 2002, 2009 ... 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2019, as well as 2020. Also in 2025, the y-o-y inflation rate was 2.8% (in February.) Now, that was higher than the June 2025 report. So, why report the June rate as if the end is near? Well, you need much larger inflation to usher-in the End of the World. Four times higher, for starters.
Perhaps someone out there can begin to realize that today's media starts with its desired conclusion and then tries to form stats around the desired conclusion which happens to amount to deliberate deception.
War causes price hikes, too.
Heightened degrees of warfare in any one month causes price increases, too. Well, there was more than one war transpiring in June of 2025 which directly affected the United States. However, the media only put the spotlight on tariffs as the guaranteed cause of the oncoming rise in the CPI-U and the eventual End of the World.
Well, if you want to understand tariff economics, study McKinley's first term which began in March of 1897. In fact, look-up the 1897 Dingley Act ... unless you're as lazy as Kamala Harris has been alleged to have always been.
The June 2024 to June 2025 Natural Gas Price Hike ... after Biden's auto-pen banned export permits for Liquid Natural Gas, starting on January 23, 2024.
You need to look at the whole picture, and NOT only at what CBS wants to show you. The highest price hike in the past year was "Utility (piped) Gas Service." It rose 14.2% between June of 2024 and June of 2025.
However, as far as went June 2025 under Donald Trump, Utility Gas Service only rose 0.5% for that one month. Moreover, in May of 2025, Utility Gas Service DECREASED by 1.0%. Thus, it doesn't sound all that end-of-the-worldish.
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics has the stats on the June 2025 CPI and other months ... in detail. Those stats are worth reviewing. In that way, CBS won't be able to scare you. CBS won't be able to con you.

Some Prices Actually Did Go Down
When it comes to Energy & Fuel, the prices involving those types of products & services definitely have decreased. The price of New Vehicles, as well as Used Cars & Trucks, has definitely decreased. With apparel, prices have been a minor overall decrease on a monthly see-saw basis. But, Biden-Era prices are mostly still with us, and that level of price was and is unacceptable. Everything about the Biden Administration was unacceptable.
You are not going to learn what you need to know from MSNBC or CNN or ABC or CBS or even PBS. This is because they won't teach it. They do not want to report the news. They only want to manipulate your mind and make you a puppet who dances whichever way their commentators tell you to dance ... proverbially speaking, of course.
